Vicarage Cake with apples

Now a vicarage cake is just the sort of thing you should find on a Church recipe site. This is another of Jane’s top recipes for you to try:

Ingredients:

300g ordinary sugar

4 eggs

250g melted butter cooled down to handwarm temperature

300g flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

breadcrumps

6 apples

2 teaspoons vanillasugar

100g chopped almonds or nuts

Pearl or ordinary sugar as needed

Procedure:

Whip sugar and eggs together. Then mix in melted butter, flour and baking powder and stir together.

Take ¾ of the dough and place it in a greased baking pan or tin sprinkled with breadcrumbs. Cut the apples into wedges and cover the top of the dough. Sprinkle with vanilla sugar. Distribute the rest of the dough on top. Sprinkle with chopped almonds or nuts. Sprinkle then with pearl sugar or ordinary sugar as needed.

Bake at 175 degrees Celsius hot air oven or 200 degrees Celsius conventional oven for about 30-35 minutes. Check with a skewer that the dough does not stick to it.

Bon appetit!
